M27 "The Dumb-bell." My first color (RGB) image. Not very successful: the telescope must have shifted during the green exposure, and no amount of post-process shifting on my part can get it right! |
M20 "The Trifid." Using MaxIm DL/CCD now as my image manipulation/camera control software of choice... However, as I found with this image, the software mixed up the green and red filters (easy enough to sort out, though)! This image, like the one above, is heavily cropped; the file size has been reduced further using other means. |

Hickson 56 (Arp 322) NGC 3718 NGC 3729 Twenty one-minute exposures stacked. Hickson 56A (the little edge-on gal)
was visible with just a one minute exposure. This galaxy is extremely
difficult--visually--in a 17.5 reflector! One of my favorite perspectives in the whole
sky. |
NGC 4631 and NGC 4627 "The Millenium Falcon." My favorite edge-on. Twenty thirty-second exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
NGC 4565 and NGC 4562 "Berenices' Hairclip." Everyone else's favorite edge-on! Twenty thirty-second exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
NGC 6888 "The Crescent Nebula." Twenty thirty-second exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
M84 and M86 NGC's 4388, 4387, and 4402. Only a 30-second exposure; quite noisy. |
B86 "The Inkspot." Taken with my 4" refractor (Genesis sdf f/5.4). Ten thirty-second exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
M82 Twenty sixty-second exposures stacked, log-scaled, and cropped. |
B72 and B's: 70, 71,69, 68 and part of 74. "The Snake." Ten thirty-second exposures stacked and stretched. |
M101 "The Pinwheel." A disappointing image; very noisy. I don't know what went wrong... Ten 60-second images stacked and stretched. |
M51 "The Whirlpool." 20 one-minute exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
M20 (again)
A B&W image (compare with color one above). 20 thirty-second exposures stacked, stretched, and cropped. |
